What Are Front Tooth Implants?
Dental implants are designed to artificially replace natural tooth roots with a small screw or post that is inserted directly into your jawbone during a short surgical procedure. Once placed, new bone grows on and around the post, fusing it firmly in place so it is strong enough to hold an implant crown.
What Are the Benefits of Choosing a Front Tooth Implant?
There are several reasons why an implant front tooth can be a beneficial way to restore a missing single tooth. These reasons can include the following.
A Long-Term Solution
Dental implants are designed to last longer or even for life, provided you care for your implant properly.
Excellent Aesthetics
A front tooth implant can look exactly like a natural tooth, and we always take tremendous care when designing front teeth implant crowns. Once in the mouth, your new implant crown will be surrounded by gum, looking like a real tooth.
Simple to Look after
Looking after a dental implant front tooth couldn’t be simpler. You can clean it exactly the same way as the rest of your natural teeth, ensuring you brush at least twice daily and floss daily. For patients needing a full-arch restoration, we also offer all-on-4 dental implants, providing a stable and convenient solution for replacing multiple missing teeth.
It is important to avoid any habits that could damage your implant. As a general rule, if a habit could damage your natural teeth, it could also damage your implant crown.
Habits to avoid include using your teeth like tools and biting down on popcorn kernels or ice cubes.
When you visit our dental clinic in Franklin Square, NY, we can check the condition of your dental implant and clean it professionally, ensuring it remains strong and healthy.
Preventing Jawbone Resorption
Natural tooth roots stimulate the bone around them, ensuring your jawbone remains healthy and strong and old bone cells are renewed. When you lose a tooth, you lose this stimulation, and as a result, your jawbone can resorb.
Dental implants are the only solution that replicates real tooth roots, protecting and preserving the jawbone around them.
Cost-Effective
Initially, it costs more to have a dental implant than other tooth loss solutions like a dental bridge, but over time, it is more cost-effective. This is because, eventually, you would need to replace whatever restoration you choose.
Replacing a single implant crown will cost less than a traditional three-tooth dental bridge that includes two abutment crowns with the replacement tooth attached.

Who Is Suitable for a Front Tooth Implant?
You will likely be suitable for treatment provided you have reasonable dental and general health and ideally do not smoke.
If you smoke or use tobacco products, we will request that you quit during healing and preferably for good. These are all points we can review with you during your initial consultation.
Understanding the Process for a Front Tooth Implant
Every dental implant treatment is broadly the same, and inserting a single dental implant is very straightforward. Below is a brief outline of what to expect. We also offer zirconia implants, a metal-free alternative for patients seeking biocompatible and aesthetically pleasing solutions.
Dental Exam and Consultation
We must examine your mouth and discuss your dental and medical health to check if an implant is an appropriate and safe treatment. Digital dental X-rays and a 3-D cone beam CT scan help us create your tailored treatment plan. Once the plan is complete, we can discuss it in detail and explain what to expect during oral surgery.
Implant Placement
Your dental implant is placed using computer-guided surgery. Inserting a single implant is typically quick and takes an hour or less. You can have your implant placed using a local anesthetic, but if you prefer, we can provide sedation dentistry.
After your implant is inserted, we may be able to fit a temporary implant crown immediately. The temporary crown is merely for cosmetic purposes so you can smile confidently. The implant will still need several months to fuse in your jawbone.
Healing
Before you leave our dental office, we can discuss how to care for your mouth during initial healing, including which foods to eat and how to keep your mouth clean.
Healing after a single implant should be quick and uneventful. It’s not unusual to experience little or no discomfort during this stage. However, you will need to avoid biting on the implant, but you can otherwise eat normally using the rest of your natural teeth.
A dental implant can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months to heal completely.
Permanent Implant Crown
The final stage is to fabricate your permanent implant crown. When you return to our dental office, we will take a detailed digital dental impression that is used to precision-make your crown. It will usually take around two weeks to make the crown.
Your final appointment is to fit your new crown. Generally, an implant crown is screwed onto the implant, and the screw holes are covered with tooth-colored resin. Screwing the implant crown in place enables us to retrieve it for any maintenance that might be needed.
